Host-delivered-RNAi-mediated resistance in bananas against biotic stresses

چکیده
Both the biotic and abiotic stressors restrict yield potential of many crops, including bananas. Bananas belong to genus Musa are world’s most popular widely produced fruit for their nutritional industrial importance. The demand bananas is growing each day worldwide. However, different pest infestations hampering production bananas, making it a matter concern global food security. Several biotechnological tools applications RNA interference (RNAi) have been employed enhance stress resistance in plants. capacity silence targeted genes at transcriptional post-transcriptional levels makes RNAi technique choice gene knock-down functional genomics studies crops. Silencing suppressor molecule coding through helps crops combat detrimental effects plant pathogens. host-induced silencing (HIGS) technology, also known as host-delivered (HD-RNAi), nowadays gaining popularity due its ability target an array pathogens, comprising bacteria, nematodes, fungi, viruses, insects. This methodology manage disease outbreaks diverse range crop species, Besides HIGS, virus-induced spray-induced (VIGS SIGS, respectively) approaches where technology exploited control plant-pathogenic diseases. current review emphasizes kinds diseases HD-RNAi, new-age promising build barrier against significant economic loss.

Germplasm – Unlocking Maize Diversity for Improving Host Plant Resistance against West Corn Rootworm and Other Biotic Stresses
The Western corn rootworm (WCR) is a serious pest of maize in the U.S. and of growing importance in Europe. Soil insecticides, the use of transgenic maize hybrids producing a Bt toxin, and the rotation of maize with other crops are successfully used to manage WCR populations. However, the occurrence of WCR populations resistant to insecticides and adapted to cultural practices raises the questi...

متن کاملSunflower Breeding for Resistance to Abiotic and Biotic Stresses
Due to a specific structure of its main organs (root, stem, leaves, and head), sunflower can be successfully grown on marginal soils and in semiarid conditions, and it is more resist‐ ant to abiotic stresses, than other field crops. Unfortunately, it is very sensitive to biotic stresses. In sunflower breeding for resistance to abiotic stresses, the greatest progress has been made in selection f...
متن کاملBroadening Gene Pool of Rice for Resistance to Biotic Stresses Through Wide Hybridization
Variability in the cultivated germplasm for economic traits such as resistance to rice tungro virus, sheathblight, yellow stem borer, drought and salt tolerance is limited. This necessitated search for the genes in secondary and tertiary gene pool of genus Oryza. Fortunately, wild species are an important reservoir ofuseful genes for resistance to major disease, pest and tolerance t...
متن کاملIdentification, Validation and Utilization of Novel Nematode-Responsive Root-Specific Promoters in Arabidopsis for Inducing Host-Delivered RNAi Mediated Root-Knot Nematode Resistance
The root-knot nematode (RKN), Meloidogyne incognita, is an obligate, sedentary endoparasite that infects a large number of crops and severely affects productivity. The commonly used nematode control strategies have their own limitations. Of late, RNA interference (RNAi) has become a popular approach for the development of nematode resistance in plants. Transgenic crops capable of expressing dsR...
